How many O2 sensors?
By the time I arrived, my service manager had left for the day. They ended up replacing all 4 O2 sensors, all free of charge since it's the third time the trucks been in there for the same issue. Without talking to the service manager, I have no idea where his CAI comment came from. Hopefully it was just his WAG at the problem, and not the trained technician in the back. The light is out right now, but we'll see if it lasts.
*sigh* Well, the light came back on over the weekend, then again Monday on my way to work. I went by the dealership today and scheduled yet another appt to bring it in, next Tuesday.
I spoke with the service adviser this time, and sure enough, he hit me up on the cold air intake. He said, sure, we'll look at it, but the CAI is what's causing the problem. I asked him exactly how they'd come to that conclusion, especially since the CAI has been on there for years, and I'm just now getting the codes and light. He said that the CAI must have a variance in the performance, thus wearing out the sensors faster. To that I asked, that if they'd replaced all four, wouldn't it been a few years again before the CAI would burn those out, since the original factory sensors it'd taken 3+ years to cause an issue? He didn't have an answer, he just restated they'd take a look at it.
So, tonight I fired off an email to Airaid, the manufacture of my CAI, just for the hell of it. Hopefully I got across in the email that I think the dealership is full of it, but I know whom ever reads it, and will just think how dumb can I be.
I'm going to push hard for them to change out the PCM this time, especially since it's under warranty. They should be willing since it's a factory repair they'll get paid regardless.

As for emailing Airaid, they wont laugh at you or think you`re dumb, they know what the problem isnt, and they will surely tell you that the service manager that told you that BS line is full of ****. I agree, seen TONS of CAI`s on all kinds of vehicles, not one check engine light on in any of them.
I got a response from Airaid. You guys were right, they were very understanding. The rep said as an aftermarket manufacture, they're typically the #1 target for any issue the dealership can't figure out. They said they have seen CAI cause check engine lights, but it's usually within the first 40 or 50 miles of driving after an install, and it's always because someone didn't follow the directions and got something backward or just completely missing. They said no way my issue waited 3+ years and 30K miles later to cause a light.
The truck is going back into the shop on Tuesday, so we'll see. I'm going to push them hard to replace the PCM since it's under warranty. After all, it's not like they won't get paid for the labor and parts.
I checked the codes this afternoon. So far I have three codes active:
P1129 Closed Loop Fueling Not Achieved - Bank 2
P0032 O2 Sensor 1/1 Heater Circuit High
P0155 O2 Sensor 2/1 Heater Performance

Man I hope they get it fixed ,that is so frustrating......A lot of the dealer ships I have been to do not know about the PCM thing, I dont know why, maybe its not wide spread, I really wish they would try one.....
The cold air thing is stupid....it would do it sooner, and then they say that the o2's wore out early, they are good for a lot more miles than that, we all know people that have not changed theres EVER, I know you should after they get off skew, but man....keep us posted, after mine was fixed ,I kept waiting for the light to come back on, so I recreated the time when it comes on and so far since 2009 no light..

I finally got this issue fixed a couple of weeks ago. It literally took months and countless trips back and forth. The biggest problem was getting them to actually work on it. I'd have an appointment, drop the truck off, and they'd never look at it because they were too backed up with work from previous days. This happened several times.
Finally I went up there and just raised Cain with the service manager. After apologizing, he looked at my file and asked to keep the truck for a few hours. He bypassed the service advisor who was stuck on the cold air intake causing the problem, and didn't take it to the tech that had been working the issue each time it had actually been looked at. Instead he gave it over to their senior tech. It wasn't even two hours when the service manager called me back and said they'd found the problem: the PCM had failed and it was what was throwing all the error codes, causing the truck to run rough, misfire on idle sometimes, and disable MDS.
So, two hours and they found the problem, after countless time wasted dealing with the yahoo service advisor. They didn't have the PCM on stock, but they ordered it and installed it just a few days later. Since then the truck is back and finally running smooth. I let it run a week stock, then finally reuploaded my SuperChips tuning. Sooooooo nice to have the truck back to the way it was.
While I really hate to be a dick to people, but sometimes that's the only way to get any help.
