Default How many O2 sensors?

I'm getting a reoccurring error code on my 2009 Hemi, P0155 O2 Sensor 2/1 Heater Performance. I'm scheduled this Thursday for trip #4 to the dealer for the same error code. The first visit they replaced the pre-catalytic O2 sensors. The truck ran for a week, then I got the dummy check engine light and the error code. The second visit they replaced both O2 sensors in the catalytic converters. This time it ran for two days, then the light was back on and the code there again. The third visit I had to space out a couple of weeks since I was out of town for work. When I got back I took the truck in and the code was gone, so the dealer did nothing.

My question is, how many O2 sensors are on these trucks? Are there only the 4 on the exhaust system? If there are others, would one specifically be causing my check engine light? At this point I'm more than willing to change them all if there's more.

You have the usual 4. 2 upstream and 2 downstream.

If it was intermittent, I could understand THAT particular O2 being changed, but no other ones. They all have separate heater outputs so it's unlikely that one of the others would cause the problem.

Hmmm, so only 4. Well you'd think that replacing all four would have fixed it, unless the issue is being generated by the connecting wire harness or something. Does that error code point to a specific O2 sensor, say like the passenger pre-cat or is just a general error code?

I've also been getting error code P1129, Closed Loop Fueling Not Achieved - Bank 2. Is that related to the other code or am I looking at a whole other issue?

Hopefully the error stays for this visit. As long as they're still there, I'm dropping the truck on Thursday morning.

Thanks for the reply.

Most of the 2009 had a PCM problem, mine showed up real early, it gave false o2 codes, then mine showed ALL of the o2 sensors were bad at one time, new PCM and a reflash, good since 2009, on my truck if you cleared it and just let it sit for a while running like cleaning it or something it would set the CEL.

Yeah, I started seeing the erroneous O2 codes in 2007, then they seemed to ramp up around 2008 and 2009 and drop off after that. I still see them here and there still but not like I used to. It would usually be like both upstreams, both downstreams or all 4. So yes, it may in fact be a PCM problem.

This sort of points to an actual heater output issue rather than erroneous codes, still PCM internal possibly.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll definitely mention the PCM to them. Hopefully that'll get them on the right trail and get the problem fixed in just one day. If it is the PCM, maybe I'll get lucky and that's magically covered under the lifetime power train warranty. I'm not holding my breathe though.

Friggin Sweet!! I'm sure anything with the label "control module" sounds like an easy $1000 replacement part. Thanks a ton!

Oh lord, here we go. I just got a call from the service department and they think the issue is being caused by the AiRaid cold air intake system. I'll find out more when I pick it up in a couple of hours I guess.

NO WAY...that doesnt have any thing to do with the o2 heaters, the air cant blow them out ???, there just grabbing at straws now....tell them to just try a PCM, GEEEEEZ, its better than blaming a part that doesnt conflict with it...
