That's what I said. I spend some time looking for a aftermarket replacement but wasn't able to find one that included the dimming feature.

Default mirrors brown on bottom

It certainly looks like the heating element is stuck on or something like that. So has anybody ever heard why, from a dealership, this is happening? If it is something upline from the mirror itself, doesn't make sense to just replace the mirror as it seems it will just happen again....

this has happened to mine 3 separate times, I'm in Canada and use the heated mirrors a lot, It gets to the point where the reflective material peels off the backside of the glass making the mirrors unusable (much worse than the above pictures), one mirror the glass actually cracked where the backing was peeling.
I wash my truck a lot it might have something to do with water freezing between the mirror glass and reflective backing to start the peeling.
as was said before the glass is relatively cheap and easy to replace, I don't see a way to prevent this aside from not using the mirror defrost.
