TPMS and E Rated Tires ?
Thought I read on here somewhere that running the higher tire pressure with a E rated tire will make the TPMS sensor go off.
Can anybody confirm or deny this who is running a E rated tire and pressures of 65-80 psi.
I want to go with an e rated tire but don't want the hassles of the TPMS being on all the time.
Thanks,

I think it depends on how your truck is set up...
My 2500 came with E-rated tires. I also have a "light Load" switch. It allows me to run my tires at around 50psi, when I don't have a load, for a more comfortable ride. Without the "light load" switch, I would have to keep them up closer to 70-80psi or the tpms would send a "low tire pressure" message/alarm.
I don't know what happens if you put 70psi in tires that the truck expects to see only 40-50psi….?

Hopefully someone with a 1500 running LT tires will chime in.
Im not a tire guy but is it safe for that rim to run that much pressure? as for the sensors i think it is a low limit built into them. might be ok to run the psi higher just when towing....really i have nothing helpful to add, just thinking outloud

The fact that they all use the same sensor, leads me to believe when the EVIC sends a warning message, is a function of the EVIC. When I change the light load switch to on or off, I believe it is changing the value when the EVIC will warn me.
I'm going to guess you would be OK… but hopefully someone with a 1500 who did this will chime in…..
The sensors just send pressure readings, the computer in the truck decides what is too high or too low. I believe that you can have the dealer adjust the pressure at which the high low warnings come on using the starscan.
I have a 2012 1500 QC and like you I wanted heavier tires with stiffer sidewalls so I went with E rated snow tires for winter. Currently running 40 PSI when empty and notice a MUCH stiffer ride so will probably drop back to C rated or at the most D rated for my next tires since either should be an improvement over the OEM tires. I have also heard that these rims are not rated for that pressure. A check with Chrysler would probably be a good idea.
I don't know what sensors they used, but I just put on E rated Toyo tires on my 1500 with the lift, and the TPMS light was on for 2 days, then has figured things out I guess, because it has been off since and no issues. I am running the tires around 44psi all the way around, truck seems to like it that way. I don't need to pressure them up to the tire max, as I don't haul anything in this truck, the E rating just came with the 35's
