TPMS VS Pressure gage
Hi All:
I checked the tire pressure thru the EVIC and it said all were low. As the truck did feel a little rough on "Bumpy " roads I used my tire gage to bring them back to spec. I did this when they were cold as directed and all were within 1 lb. of recommended pressure with the gage. Now I know they will increase pressure as they get hot.
At the end of a 30 mile trip I checked the EVIC and all were in #43-45
range. O.K. next morning I checked EVIC and they were in the #41- 43 range, this is at 4:00 A.M. and outside temp is 26 degrees.
Checked again with gage after tires cooled tires were perfect, EVIC said no.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE EVIC READING? Is my gage off ?
The gage is not a cheap one, just mid price range.

It needs to drive a ways to reset to the new pressures. So when you first started it up, it was displaying the last pressure it received. I put my snow tires on which do not have TPMS installed and my EVIC displayed normal pressure for about 5 miles or so then went to zero.
Out of the manual:
"The system will automatically
update and the TPM Telltale Light will turn off once the
system receives the updated tire pressures. The vehicle
may need to be driven for up to 20 minutes above 15 mph
(24 km/h) in order for the TPMS to receive this information"
