Default Remote start option?

Hey guys, I've been looking at 2009+ Rams and was curious when they started offering this? Thanks in advance!

So, your looking to buy a vehicle based on if that have Remote start?
They have offered it since early ages. Def before 4th Gen. No troubles there.

Relatively easy to add if not equip'd. Either factory or aftermarket.
Aftermarket is plug and play if I'm not mistaken.
OEM has to be enabled by dealer!

No, I like these trucks anyway, but if I do buy one I'd like to get one equipped with it, it's a nice option to have.

i bought my 2009 1500 without remote start and had the dealer install the oem remote start because they have to enable it.

that said, and as dirtydog implied, i wouldnt buy a truck only because it has remote start as it can be easily added on if it has everything else you want and the deal is good.

I bought my 2009 without remote start. I bought an $80 plug and play remote start and installed it myself. It uses the current remote....just hit the lock button 3x. Works great and was super easy to install.

Yup the Directed Express auto start kit works great with my 09 as well. Buy the kit programmed or ad the usb program kit to modify the settings. Very nice plug and play for about 100 bucks. Make sure you buy the harness pigtail, no cutting... Plug and play.

Find any used truck you want and just ensure you negotiate the remote start into the deal. On my 2011 it was $350 installed at the dealer. I here it's more expensive for the 2013-2014 due to the different electronics.

Sure can....this is the one that is just like the one I bought. You just need to give the seller your VIN and they will program it for you.

I would suggest you purchase the plug and play wire loom so there is no need for splicing of you wireing harness. Also you can buy the VIP programmer and set up the module to your liking. I believe you can change idle times and speed of the button push. Lots of good info on this direct website.
