Yes seems strange for an led to flicker. But it was the led. I checked the voltage at the harness. I also used a multimeter with a diode tester to check the led. Led was bad.
Light Emitting Diodes can flicker. This occurs when there is a contaminate at the junction of the diode. It's rare, but I've seen it before in various electronic equipment.

I can't believe I waited around this long to fix this. Finally got my LEDs in this week. Ordered a red, green, and natural white. I am trying the white first. I just cut the leads down to a more manageable size, shoved them in the clip, and taped them. I started the black insert from the outside, and taped the LED right over the hole it shines through. I like the white, but I'll know better on Monday when I drive to work.

Edit: I ended up changing out the white for the green. The white was too bright, and the green matches the rest of the truck.

I used the connection for the existing overhead light. It only comes on with the headlights.

No, I just stripped some wire from the LED, inserted into the connector and taped it up, so it wasn't permanently modified. It's worked since my last post without doing anything to it.
