The tow/haul rating is slightly higher with the 17s but if you aren't planning to max out does it matter? The footprint/flotation is probably debatable since the 20s are wider to start with. The better ride is a maybe because the suspension is set up with 20s in mind and you probably give up some performance with the taller side walls on the 17s. So after saying all that it is still my thoughts that it comes down to looks and personal preference. JMO

 

I want to thank all of you for your replies. I learned a lot. It looks like we're going with a truck with 20" tires. I better understand the (possible) cons of this decision now but at the same time I am less anxious about it. Anyway, thanks again.
