Default Inside curtesy lights not working, 2010, 1500 mega cab

Hi everyone,

While it's very nice reading all this valuable information from you guys, I couldn't find any information about inside curtesy lights not working neither from the switch nor by opening any of the 4 doors.

I checked the fuses, and replaced the IDO one anyway with no success.

The only other electrical problem my truck has is the OEM trailer braking system. It doesn't respond using the brake pedal but does so using the little leaver on the OEM switch, weird?

Thanks for any advice

I didn't think there was a Mega Cab model in 2010 in the 1500 line. If not, you probably have a 3rd gen truck and would get better answers in the 3rd Gen forum.

Mega cab and Crew cab are the same, aren't they???

For sure, it's got the wider doors in the back!

Nope. Mega cab has an extra 8" (or more) of space behind the rear seats so it is longer than a crew cab.

Ok then, I have the mega doors and the crew cab, and come to think about it, I probably never seen a mega cab!

Anyway I still have my lighting problem!
thanks

Default I'm in the same boat sorta...

My vanity, glovebox, and puddle lights don't work. Also my right front headlights don't work (only when my travel trailer is plugged in).

Goofy computer controlled light system is my guess. Not planning on fixing anything any-time soon because we try not to pull the trailer at night.

Fuses are all good.

Here is information from the Service Manual for the condition:
ALL LAMPS IN THE COURTESY LAMP CIRCUIT DO NOT ILLUMINATE

Listed are the possible causes and correction
1. Courtesy DEFEAT feature turned ON. 1. Turn courtesy DEFEAT feature OFF.
2. Ineffective ground circuit. 2. Test and repair the open ground circuit if required.
3. Ineffective or missing fuse. 3. Test and replace the fuse if required.
4. Ineffective courtesy lamp control circuit. 4. Test and repair the courtesy lamp control circuit if required.
5. Ineffective headlamp switch. 5. Test and replace the headlamp switch if required.
6. Ineffective ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) inputs or outputs. 6. Use a diagnostic scan tool to test the EMIC inputs and outputs. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
7. Ineffective Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) inputs or outputs. 7. Use a diagnostic scan tool to test the TIPM inputs and outputs. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

In regards to the trailer brake concern you may need a dealer technician to check the integrated brake module as a possible cause.

That first suggestion 1. Courtesy DEFEAT feature turned ON.

Is this dealer only option, I don't see how to change that?

Thank you for the very good information, appreciate.

That is an Engineers polite way of saying: Is the intrument cluster dimmer switch adjusted to the "ON" position I believe.

The only thing my instrument cluster dimmer switch controls is the dash instrument lighting level.

I have to set the "Dome" lights to work by pushing on them to set them to the proper position.

Anyone else care to to take a guess? lol
