Default 2009 tpsm question

my used 2009 1500 has a new set of 285/60/20 goodyear wrangler duratacs on it.
obviously, not the size it came with. the sticker in the door says 35 psi with 275/70/20. my tpsm light blinks a few times and then stays on. i checked all 4 and they were at 32 psi, give or take a couple. the tires have a max PSI of 80 psi. i filled all 4 to 41 psi. the tpsm still stays on.

do i have a bad sensor?
do i need to inflate the tires to a much higher psi to get them within the range to reset the sensors?

thanks

When my 2009 Laramie rolled off the lot, she had 275/60/20s; and yes it sounds like a bad sensor, due a search, as there are PLENTY of TPMS threads....

From the 09 owners manual. Yep, I would bet a bad sensor. Had to replace one of mine this year.

"Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale. When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists. When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly. Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle, to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function properly."

35 psi should be enough. Americas tire has a gauge that tests the senders. They can tell you which one bad.

I put a set of knockoffs from China-land in my spare set of rims; the whole set was like 90$ on ebay; they work.
