Default Just got a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab Hemi 4x4

Hey guys, I traded in my old Dodge Ram yesterday and got a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab 5.7l 4x4.

Took the truck for a oil change this morning, it has high miles (142,000) so they suggested full synthetic which I did. They said the oil was a little low and dark. They looked at the coolant and it was the red/pink coolant and had a little bit of black pieces floating in it, not alot though. They wanted to drain my coolant and put new coolant in but I didnt let them.

Any coolant advice would be great or any advice in general on these trucks and what to look for or do 'special' maintenance wise.

Factory filled coolant is to be replaced after 5 years sounds like yours is definitely due , replace with recommended or Mopar coolant and your good to go.

Pre- '13 Rams call for HOAT and Zerex G-05 is fine if you don't want to pay dealership prices. Interval is 5 years or 100,000 miles.

2013+ use OAT and it's a specific blend. Mopar brand is strongly recommended. Interval is 5 years or 150,000 miles.
