Cool Sea Foam

I have never used this product. Anyone who has my question is dose it really work?
My 4.7 has 133,000 on it would you recommend using it to clean out sludge?
Thanks

Yes it does work, but maybe too well. At 133,000 miles if it's not been cleaned you may have a lot of sludge. Anything that will really clean it well could very easily loosen so much it will clog the screen and lifter, thus starving the top end causing the engine to seize. Kinda rare, but depending on how much crud is there, it can happen.

I'd drop the pan to know what you are dealing with and clean out everything you can get to by hand and a degreaser. Then maybe add a product like seafood to flush the top end crap down into the pan and clean the pan again...

Thank you for the Info. I don't know if it has been done already . I have the ticking noise sometimes on the passenger side. I used the GTX 5w-30 High Mileage Synthetic on the last change (every 3,000)it seems to have gotten louder.

Check rear two exhaust manifold bolts for sheared off heads. Will make that noise and very common. As time goes by the gasket will fail causing exhaust leak...

I don't know the year of your truck but for the 2009 year model with the 4.7. the owners manual calls for different oil.

4.7L Engine (SAE 5W-20, API Certified)

All pre-05 V8s called for 5w-30. After that 5W-20. In a non-MDS engine I don't see any problem running either...
