Default 2009 Ram Bumper

Hi everyone. I have a 2009 Ram 1500 with a sport front bumper on it and I hit a deer with it the other night. It cracked the bumper pretty good, cracked the grille, and broke the mounting tabs for the passenger side headlight. I thought maybe, since this happened, I would take the opportunity to put a different front bumper on my truck.

So, I have been looking around at full bumper replacements with grille guards, and haven't really come across anything I would like. And, of course, it seems that having the sport bumper creates a whole different set of challenges when looking for replacement bumpers.

So, I have a couple questions. I am sure this has kind of been asked on here before, but do any of you have a truck with the sport bumper and replaced it with something aftermarket? If so, do you have any suggestions? Like I said, I would like something with a grill guard and, if possible, something to reuse the factory foglights I have. Not completely necessary, but just looking into my options here.

My next question would be, instead of buying something aftermarket, has anyone built their own front bumper for their truck? I am sure this won't be an easy process, but I am thinking of looking into designing and creating my own replacement bumper. I just wanted to see if anyone has tried this yet.

Thanks for the help.

why not just pick up a painted or chrome factory front bumper then put a grill guard on it? I am sure a boneyard has one or you can pick one up on ebay or the stealership.

Well, that was always an option. I could just have it put back to stock, but I am looking for a little more protection than just the grill guard over the stock replacement bumper.

Thanks for the input.
