EZD to EZH was the transition from the VCT engine to the VVT engine in 2009 model year.

Mine has the "Fuel Saver" light added and it shows in the lower right hand side, it does not show an Eco mode or a bar display. The early 2009's also came with a different evic digital display which I was told wouldn't show the ECO display and bar and could only incorporate the fuel saver display.

That's the generally held consensus. There were exceptions. I have a EZH build with a VCT engine.

Would that be the same area of the EVIC that displays the transmission gear when in ERS?

I have an early 2009 with the EZD sales code and the "Fuel Saver" display in the EVIC. I've tried to find what the difference between the EZD and EZH but haven't had any luck finding any information regarding the difference, other than the VCT vs the VVT nomenclature. I think that VCT and VVT mean the same thing. I don't think that there is any mechanical difference in the cam phasing. I could be wrong, does anyone have any info on this?

I've run across a number of explanations for the difference between the EZD and EZH sales codes but none flesh out. One explanation (from a CDJR tech) even suggested that EZD was the Eagle Hemi with MDS but no variable cam timing. Interesting! So why can I buy a cam phaser for a EZD engine? I'd really like to know what the real deal is.

VCT and VVT are the same thing. Discussed this some time ago with a seemingly knowledgeable service writer who was emphatic that there were no mechanical changes associated with the name change. The association with the engine sales codes appears coincidental - the sales codes were changing concurrent with changes to the VCT/VVT designation. Ford had been using the VCT designation on its Triton engines and that, anecdotally, may have played a part in the name change.
