MDS went out , all of it . they replaced that , took it on a drive , threw more codes . dealer went in replaced cam, lifters , tappets and others . they had it for a week . on the drive home service light came on , next day back to dealer on Saturday. wll wait to see on monday what iot is .

Maybe you are thinking about the VVT aspect of MDS. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) also referred to as VCT (Variable Cam Timing), uses a cam phaser. The phaser varies the cam relationship (timing) mechanically. Some have attributed a noisy ticking sound with MDS active and have fixed the MDS noise by replacing the cam phaser.
I don't know the extent to which VVT and MDS are associated. I suppose it's possible that your problem is caused by the phaser.
