They can't void your warranty as all they are are bags inside the rear coils. They in no way change the geometry of the drivetrain nor do they change how the rear end operates or even function. Besides, if you are that worried about it you can always take the bags out as they leave no sign of being installed.

 

I decided to go with the airbags but I am also considering upgrading to heavier shocks. Rancho has been mentioned and bilstein. Just wondering if you have a preference? Thanks.

 

In my opinion, Rancho's are too stiff, besides they don't even make there own shock. They are made by the same company that makes all the lift kit companies shocks. If you see a shock with a white body such as Rancho or Pro Comp or Rough Country etc, they are made by Tenneko. Bilstien actually makes their own shock and they do a fantastic job at it. There is no comparison between Rancho and Bilstien.

 

Thanks for that. I have made an adjustment to hitch head and will have the airlift 1000 airbags installed and see what that does. I may then install new shocks. Do you have factory shocks or upgraded shocks? Thanks again.

 

I went with stock OEM Mopar because the original set lasted over 100,000 miles and (they work). Everyone loves riding in my Truck.

One of my friends installed Napa coil over rear shocks on his RAM 1500 specifically for towing a flatbed trailer. He said that he likes them, I haven't ridden in the truck though. Those shocks are painted black and look really bad ***.

 

Thanks for the quick response. I have alot of side to side movement at times with my mopar oem shocks thats why i thought stiffer shocks may eliminate that. I'm going to install the rear air bags next week and see what that does and go from there. Have a good weekend.

 

Update on the bouncing ram. I had the airlift 1000 airbags installed yesterday. Hitched up and went for a ride. The airbags didnt stop the bouncing. I had 35 psi in them but the truck still bounced on sections of concrete and blacktop that had expansion strips and dips. It kind of gets into a rythmn until you drive thru thru them into the road that doesnt have the dips. I called equalizer, the wdh manufacturer and they were eager to help. They told me they have heard of this issue before. I sent out some measurements and photos and they will get back to me. They also said there maybe no fix for this and may have to live with it.
I have an appt with rv dealer in two weeks to check the hitch setup. Don't know what my next step will be. I'm doubting whether hd shocks will fix this issue either. Do you kind gentlemen have any other ideas? Thank you

 

I would think that maybe your tongue wight is too light, essentially your trailer might be actually lifting the rear of your truck as you hit certain spots on the highway causing it to "bounce". Maybe by shifting some weight forward it will balance out the load more and keep the rearend pushed down, which is where the airbags come into play. Good luck and I hope it all works out.

 

On a different note about the ram. Does anyone have the integrated trailer brake module in the dash? I have my gain on ten and when checking it while towing the trailer 6500lbs I am not able to lock up the trailer brakes at 20mph. The manual states you should be able to lock up the brakes and then decrease the gain just so the brakes don't lock then leave it there. Thanks.

 

Can anyone help with this? Upon measureing the height of my ram 1500 2015 from the ground to the wheel well front and rear, the rear is 2 inches higher than the front. Could this be a contributing factor of the bouncing that I described earlier? Thank you
