I just got my first ram 1500 and I heard the 4.7 has some issues so I want to know that if the engine craps out if I could swap it for the 5.7 and how hard it would be

 

Well, 2012 is the 4th gen man, we're all 3rd gen here, head to the 4th gen section, a mod will move your post.

That being said, plenty of guys have done the swap. Works best if you have a donor truck. Use the search, you'll find plenty of thread of dakotas and rams being swapped for the good engine.

2002-2008 is the Third Generation 1500 Ram.
2003-2009 is the Third Generation 2500/3500 Ram.

 

Sorry I forgot 08 was the cut off cause after that was the revamped 4.7

 

I don't think anyone has done a 4th gen 4.7 to 5.7 swap yet. Bit more complicated than the 3rd gens getting the computers to play nice.

 

i did my 02 ram 3.7 base model to 5.7 slt with all the goodie can you say power everthing

 

Curious, did you swap everything to electronic throttle body or keep a cable one? Can you post pics?

 

i did everthing I strip the donor front to back the only thing i didn't do was the tranny and the fuel system, runs like a beast I only have couple pics but I do have video I thought I had a video during the day giving all the detail but I guess not I'll do one another day
