Default Brand new Ram 1500 5.7L engine noise when first starting up

Brought home a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Friday. Noticed Sunday when I used remote start that it had engine clatter for a few secs. I've owned many Rams, never had this issue....well minus my Cummins.... it always had noise. I have 121 miles on the odometer. Suggestions?

Use your bumper to bumper warranty. Take it to the dealer and demonstrate your concern.

Hi JackTheRipper,

jkeaton beat me to it--if you can easily replicate the noise with the remote start, please do go back to your dealership and demonstrate the concern for them. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know!

Both my 2013 and my 2014 Rams had/have a little bit of extra clatter every fifth or sixth startup (maybe less often than that). Common thing with the newer Hemis, no ill effects long term.

I have been told, with the same concern, that it has to do with oil circulation. On first start, especially when cold, the engine isn't "primed" with oil so you get a little clatter until the oil has a chance to circulate through the engine...that's why it goes away after a few seconds.
