Default towing question

about my truck
2010 ram SLT crew cab 4x4 with the 5.7L hemi
gear on the truck is only the 3.55
now stock its suppose to be able to tow 8600 pounds

mods on the truck now
front leveling daystart 2.5 that only really gives 2''
and tire are 285/65/r20 BF KO2

are these 2 mod affected the towing cap.

2- i have a GT Programmer from bullydog.

what mods would I need to get it to 10000 pounds

i know the 3.92 would bring it to approx 9900 but i need it to be around 10500 if possible .

thanks

Buy a 3/4 ton truck.

Larger tires with 3.55 gears is going to dramatically reduce your towing performance.

And towing isn't about just getting the load moving, it is also about stopping. With the kind of weight you wanna pull, you REALLY need a heavier duty truck.

my camper trailer is
Dry Weight (lbs) 7450.00
but that's dry adding the propane the batteries, stuff in the fridge and clothing and what not. it would be around 8500 pounds
even if I know i will always have my 3 tanks empty when pulling it they account for that when they look at trailler max and the sticker says
10880 pounds. that is like having 3430 pounds of water and material in the trailer ...

I tow an 8,500# boat around a lot. Mostly flat highway driving (I-95). When I first began towing, the boat pushed the rear around, especially in curves. I put air bags in and it made a huge difference. I tow between 60-65 mph, mainly for the boat's canvas. I can tow faster but it's tough on the boat. I used to tow with my other truck with 3.55 gears. They sucked. The 3.92 gears are awesome for towing. Like another responder said, you can tow easily, stopping is the main problem. I have a fantastic braking system on the trailer. As soon as I touch my brake pedal, I can feel the trailer braking the truck. Before towing near max limits, I would make sure your braking is up to a hard stop in case of a problem. Remember, it's not speed that kills, it's the sudden stop.

there is nothing you can add to a vehicle that in the eyes of law enforcement raises the towing capacity rating that came from factory. If your over, they can detain you and you pay to have it towed by an appropriate vehicle.
