ok guys i have a 2009 dodge ram 1500 5.7L 4x4 hemi crew cab its got 125k miles on it I purchased it 3 months ago when I bought it I asked them to check a small wineing noise in the rear and was told it was tire noise but they did find that the diff had to much fluid so they let some out welp about a weekago I noticed the noise getting a little louder so I pulled it in my garage put it up on jacks and had the wife put it in gear to spin the back wheels I notice the noise was coming from the driveshaft mainly when I would go to the rear you could still hear a noise but not as loud same thing on the transfer case. so a buddy told me to see if I had any play in the solid driveshaft there is absolutely no play in the rear at the rear pinion and like a 1/6th or less where the yoke slides into transfer case but nothing in the U joint so he said change out the u joints and the bearing in the transfer case along with the output shaft seal welp after calling 20 parts places and the dealer im being told there was no bearing that needed to be replaced there. so I replace the u joints and output shaft seal and decide I should replace the fluids in the rear welp I open the rear and find a 1/8th thick 1/2 wide 1 1/2 inch long peace of metal stuck to the magnet on the bottom found out its a piece of the Clutch was told its ok to drive on it for now but needs to be fixed since then I put new fluids and the additive for the clutch in it and the noise is still there but a little louder so I been trying to find a rear for this truck weather used or new or even the parts or someone who can fix it and its turned into a night mare. I know the rear is a Corporate 9.25 ld rear axle with 3.92 gear ratio with the locking clutch but I cant seem to find wtf I need to buy to fix this unfortunitly this is my bread maker I drive 100 to 400 miles a day with it if it don't move I cant move and cant make a living right now iv found a 3 options but way out my price range I can scrounge up like 1800$ to handle this issue and this 100% wipes me out. one has a open diff with 70k miles on it for 2200$ second option is jasper they can sell me a rebuilt for $3250.90 or I found a shop that says they can do the clutch packs and bearings for 1400$ if anything is bad other then that price jumps. but cant even look at it for 2 weeks last option is I have a friend that has rebuilt rears before mainly fords never a dodge but think if I can find the parts he can help teach me how to rebuild it my self . can anyone give me some guidance on wtf to do here.

there is no leaks at all on the rear or transfer case and I havnt been able to do a fluids change on the transfer case cause I cant seem to get the dam caps off I was also told that could be my noise ) Willing to pay the person that helps me out this jam or even barter/trade just for the right solution

also dealer has told me you cant get a new or rebuilt rear for this truck due to they have discontinued it and they don't have a replacement the only option is to have it rebuilt or do it your self but wouldn't help on what I would need to rebuild it myself just that they could do it for 1300$ labor plus all parts but couldn't give me a price on parts till they go into it and yea this was a dodge dealer

1400 to rebuild one axle is stupid.

If your friend has a clue, get together with him, and fix it yourself. I bet the two of you can do it for less than 500 bucks. (probably quite a bit less.)

I also had a 2009 Ram 1500 CC 2WD that ended up with a bad differential and axles. 2009 model years had problems with differentials and axles, so the damage may be worse than you think. That is why FCA switched to ZF axles, too many issues and warranty repairs. Mine started to make noise at just over 100k miles. Took it in and they ended up changing the gears bearings and seals. Also, the axle bearings were shot so they replaced both of them and the seals. The day I picked it up, I could hear humming and drove right back to the dealer. The mechanic said that he didn't hear it (I took him for a drive) and that it was tire noise. I said no, it's the pinion not set right. He finally agreed but said that all of the clearances, backlash and settings were dead on and that I should just drive it because FCA would not approve a second rebuild. He said "you have a lifetime power train warranty, just drive it till it breaks" I told him that was not acceptable but they wouldn't budge. I ended up selling the truck a few months later and bought a 2017.

The point I making is that you may end up with an expensive rebuild and it may still make noise.
