Sorry, I forgot to closeout this thread... It ended up being that the exhaust valve seat was dropping and wouldn't let the
valve close all the way. I was able to discover this by pulling the valve cover and having someone cranking the engine.
You could see the rocker was not moving as far as the others.
Ended up having to pull the heads, it was a major disassemble to replace them. If your going to replace the heads,
get aftermarket exhaust stud/bolts and make sure your machine shop guy peens the edge of he valve seats to keep them
from working there way out.

Unhappy 2015 Outdoorsman #5 missfire

I have the same problem.

First visit to dealer they replaced lifters, then the head. Seemed to work great for almost a year.

Second visit to dealer lifters, now head still producing same errors, they have had for 2 months.

Hoping for new power pack, we will see.

Frustrated.

Hi tmeak,

Your vehicle has been at the dealer for 2 months? Would you mind sending me a direct message so that I can escalate your inquiry.

Default Cylinder 5 misfire = lifter/camshaft failure.

I hope your re-power is successful.
My 2015 has been at the dealership for a month now, waiting for parts. Lifter/camshaft failure. I hope it doesn’t take another month. That would be most aggravating. I’m driving a minivan while I wait and I’m not enjoying it.

Good Luck

Hi Diesel McNasty,

I am sorry to hear you've been in service for a month. Is there a case created on the customer care side in an effort to expedite the process? Send me a direct message as we'd be glad to help.

Had the same thing replaced plugs and coil pack. took a trip to the dealer, $350.00 got a quote to replace the drivers side cam and lifters due to the cam going bad $4200.00. Might be the last dodge I own. 146000 miles and a cam goes bad. My 99 ram drove for 360000 never had a problem.

Funny Dodge is doing nothing with all the reported cam failures on the internet.

Currently I'm working on my neighbor's 2013 Hemi with right at 100,000 miles that has the p0305 code. It does seem to have a tick on the drivers side. Last night while driving it slow it almost seemed like a loud diesel clang this went away with higher rpm. So far the spark plugs have been replaced. Coils swapped. Injectors were pulled and ultra sonically cleaned and tested. It seems to run ok until hard acceleration then it starts to miss and throws the p0305 code. With my scanner I can live stream the injector pulses. Everything looks ok until heavy acceleration then number 5 just goes dead. This seems to last for a minute or two then it will come back to life. The injectors have been swapped also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had any luck isolating the issue? My 2014 ram is doing this exact same thing. Just changed plugs, coil, and the injector. Some hesitation at low speed and light flashes if I get on it. Injector 5. Thanks.
