Dodge dealership said the transmission is locked up.. They say the damage was caused by the transmission not the recall issue..My truck is classic of the pinion nut fail.. my driveline still has the yoke attached and the pinion gear shaft threads are almost stripped looking.. I had no transmission issues and the first mechanic (not dealership) said the nut came off and was part of the recall.. Now dodge saying otherwise.. I've had a auto trans fail and it did not cause any third member damage and the driveline was twisted.. My truck is part of the recall but was never taken in by the original owner to have the pinion nut checked.. I hope the dealership makes good on what they told me in the beginning, all parts and labor free and any secondary damage would also be covered as it was caused by the failure of which is the reason of the safety recall.

It's not up to the dealership. FCA makes that decision at the powertrain center based on pictures and such. Rare for an auto trans to "lock up", at least not enough to break the OUTPUT before internal or Input breakage.
