Default Engine Surge when getting going

I often get an idle surge (or maybe a rev surge) when I 1st take off in the morning or just starting out at a red light. I notice many other have had similar problems, but it seems like their problems happen while the vehicle is in park. Mine occurs when the vehicle is in drive.

It does not happen all the time, but on many occasions when I 1st pull out of the driveway in the morning, I'll get a surge in revving. At 1st for some dumb reason I though it was because my truck is equipped with the 3.92 gears. But now, I'm thinking maybe not.

My truck is a 2015 RAM 1500 with the Hemi and 8-Speed transmission. My factory warranty expires later this year and I'm wondering if I should have it checked out before expiration or not.

Or not worry about it, since it doesn't really bother me and it doesn't happen all the time.

What do you think?

Mine does that as well. I have a 2017 1500 Hemi with the 8 speed and 3.21 ratio. I believe it's the tranny as my wife's Grand Cher does it as well. It bothered me at first but I have learned to live with it.

Hello carlg,

If you do decide to get it checked out, our team is available via direct message and would be happy to help get the process started.
