Default Need HELP - key fob dead

My truck has seriously been giving me issues. I have taken it to the dealership TWICE and they claim to not have any idea as to what is going on.

My key fob for my truck doesn't unlock my truck, doesn't lock it, doesn't respond when I hit the panic button. NOTHING. It is like the fob is dead.

At first, it would only do this sometimes and even when it would have an episode, if I Waited a few minutes the fob would eventually work.

Now, today I got my truck back from the dealership telling me that they cannot find anything wrong with my truck, and handed me the keys back. I go get my truck after hours od the dealership, and it starts fine. However there is a solid red light on the dashboard like in the picture attached.

After a quick phone call (lol) and a google search, I found out it may be a low battery in my fob. SO I CHANGED THE BATTERIES... AND STILL NOTHING.

6 months prior, my truck did this, and they ended up replacing a "radio frequency module". Something to do with the connection between the fob and the truck starter.

However, the dealership did not get those codes AND proceeded to tell me they deleted all codes they got.

I have no idea what to do.... and frankly I am extremely frustrated as I rely on my truck A LOT for my job....

Welcome to the forum!

What year and model is your truck? Does it have the keyless start (push button) or do you use a key to start it? If keyless, does the truck still start even when the doors do not unlock with the fob? Do you have a second fob you can try? If so, does it behave the same?

Your attachment did not come through so we're unsure what red light came on in the dashboard.

I am thinking the red light he may be talking about is the security light. I am just guessing tho as my 09 has a red light that will light up when the remote start s activated.

The truck is a 2013 Ram 1500. Yes it has remote start. The fobs are completely dead. They do nothing, they won't start the truck, unlock the doors, won't even set off the panic mode when pushed. Neither fob will work. Changed batteries in both and still nothing. This is the light in the dash. Had it at the dealership all day and when I get it back , with them telling me nothing was wrong.

per the owners manual, page 244

Red Telltale Light
What It Means
Vehicle Security Warning Light — If Equipped
This light will flash at a fast rate for approximately 15 seconds when the vehicle security alarm is
arming, and then will flash slowly until the vehicle is disarmed.

That tells me that the vehicle security system is not working. Is the dealer seeing the red light when it's in the shop?

some more reading on page 17
During normal operation, after placing the keyless ignition
in the ON/RUN position, the vehicle security light will
turn on for three seconds for a bulb check. If the light
remains on after the bulb check, it indicates that there is a
problem with the electronics. In addition, if the light begins
to flash after the bulb check, it indicates that someone used
an invalid key fob to try to start the engine. Either of these
conditions will result in the engine being shut off after two
seconds.
If the vehicle security light turns on during normal vehicle
operation (vehicle running for longer than 10 seconds), it
indicates that there is a fault in the electronics. Should this
occur, have the vehicle serviced as soon as possible by an
authorized dealer.

try this trick when the truck wont start. Use the key to unlock the door and try to start the truck. Once inside, try to start the truck and start playing around with the key in the ignition and the manual door locks. Maybe you'll figure something out. Good luck.

page 20 of the owners manual

Security System Manual Override
The vehicle security alarm will not arm if you lock the
doors using the manual door lock plunger.
