Default Key Fob

I have 2 key fobs for my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500. One works fine. The other will set off the alarm and flashes the lights when I go to start the truck with it. It does in intermittently though. I have changed the battery so that is not it.

Will it let you drive the truck while the horn is honking at lights are flashing? If so, you probably inadvertently triggered the "panic" feature of the suspect fob.

Do you have push button start or the style where you turn the fob to start?

I figured it out yesterday after comparing both key fobs side by side. The one that has the issue had the panic button sticking up about 1/16 of an inch above the fob housing. The normal one had the panic button set just under the housing. What was happening was that when i pushed the fob into the key hole to start the truck, it was pressing the panic button. I was unable to get the panic button to sit below the housing, so I removed the small metal contact from inside the fob and it disabled the panic button and now works fine. I have no panic button option for that fob but no one pays attention to blowing horns anymore anyway.

Thanks

Gordie
