Default 2014 Ram diagnostics access

I got a 2014 Ram regular cab 4x4 ,5.7 hemi. 35000 miles. came out after work to fire up the truck and have a check engine light on! is there any way to retrieve the diagnostic code without plugging in a OBD reader?

Thanks Limechallenger

Did the Ram start, or is it stranded? If it starts fine you could drive to a local auto parts store (assuming there is one near you) and they can pull generic OBD-II codes at no charge.

Chrysler used to have a means of displaying diagnostic codes via a sequence of turning the ignition key on and off, but I'm not sure they still do that. It would be more difficult with the push button start as well.

A Bluetooth code reader that talks to a phone app is about $20.
