Default Cylinder #5misfire 2011ram bighorn

Hey there I'm new and look for some help from fellow dodge owners. I changed the plugs and the motor still isn't shifting to ECO when you steady the throttle or let off the gas. Engine light is still on. Any help is appreciated. Names Jamie

Take it to Autozone & have them run the codes.....if it'a "030x misfire".....it may be a bad lifter / cam....

Does it run like it has a misfire? Is the engine clattering/tapping or just idling roughly? If you pull the plugs for cylinder #5 do they appear damp like one that is getting fuel but not spark or do they not appear to be getting fuel? Have you tried a compression or cylinder leakdown test?

Try swapping the coil pack from the troubled cylinder to another and see if the code follows.

I've read dozens of reports from owners who have this problem and the number one thing they are always told while trouble shooting is to change plugs and swap coil packs....not one single time has that been successfull in all the reports I've found....it always turns out to be a bum lifter that takes the cam out. Somebody on the Dodge Ram Owners FB page has started a poll to try to get an estimate of just how many others have had this problem.

That may be, but it sure is a lot easier to check and much quicker to possibly rule out than a lifter/cam problem. It's still worth the small amount of time to check.
