So I have been dealing with this high pitched squeak for a two weeks now. The other day i got a friend to jump on the truck to figure out where it was coming from. I found that the center strut bolt was rubbing the strut tower. So i removed the lower strut bolt and the three top bolts but the strut has only expanded and now it wont come out.
Ive loosened the tie rod, sway bar and upper ball joint but it just keeps filling the space. Any idea or maybe where i can cut?
You need to jack up and support the truck by the frame and separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle, also disconnect the sway bar link from the lower control arm and the tie rod end from the knuckle. This will now allow the lower control arm to fall away and you can now easily remove the strut assembly as an entire unit.
