Default Factory oil?

recently purchased 2018 Ram 5.7 Hemi, I was shocked to see the oil change interval of 16000km do these trucks come with synthetic oil?

Probably a synthetic blend from the factory. Per the manual, wait for the change oil required message to come on but do not exceed 16,000 km (10,000 miles) or 12 months. Most newer vehicles are like this now. Gone are the days of 3 month/3000 mile oil changes.

Maybe I am just old school but 3000 miles / 3 months is my interval. Could probably get away with the 10000 miles but can't bring myself to break old habits. Use 5w20 Valvoline.

It took me awhile but having 6 vehicles and doing a bunch of research, I finally went with what the manual states. My 95, which is my oldest vehicle and the least driven infrequently gets 2 changes per year. All the newer ones have the oil change reminder. I just want till it comes on. Saves money, especially if you are using full synthetic. Changing the oil every 3 months/3000 miles using full synthetic is just a waste of money.

Did you confirm this by having the engine oil analyzed for trace elements and viscosity?

not to mention the environmental impact of dumping perfectly good oil (im not a treehugger by any stretch, but this seems to be more of an issue to some people)

yes i have several 10k mile oil analysis reports with TBN, viscosity, and trace makeup from our 3 cars (two of them 5.7 hemis) and all still have life remaining at 10k miles, including my wifes turbocharged car.
