Default TPMS sensors

I have a 2017 Outdoorsman 4x4, I am putting on a set of dedicated winter tires and steel rims. I am in Canada so it is not law for the tire shop to install sensors, besides the light coming on is there anything that will not work properly ie. traction control, ABS etc.?

No, abs and tc will not be effected by no tpm sensors. They will be effected by a different tire circumference. Tire size corrections can be made in the tipm or rf hub with a scan tool.

Canadian laws don't mandate tpm systems so most Canadian market trucks have a winter mode that shuts off the tpm system off. the evic will display dashes instead of pressures and the tpm light will stay off. there may be a non scan tool way to active this mode but I am not aware of it. Have the dealer shut it off with the scan tool.

Thanks for the info, so you are saying that changing tire size will affect the TC and ABS, the tire shop I am dealing with are suggesting that since these will be dedicated winter tires on their own rims I should downsize the rims to 18" and go with 265/70R18 tires. His reasoning is they are substantially cheaper while being almost the same height, the 20's are 33" tall and a circum. of 103.6" the 18's are 32.6 tall and have circum. of 102.4"

the larger the change the more effect it will have. more so on the speedo and trans...my 17 to 20 change even effected the transmission...delaying all the downshifts due to wrong vehicle speed sensor data. my speedo was off 10km/hr.

the tc and abs will be effected to lesser extent and may not be noticeable. It would take a big change to have an noticeable effect. tc and abs systems use wheel speed data as an input. Correcting the tire size in the tipm will fix everything. you can buy a tool so you can do this yourself.

I get it 20 winters are crazy expensive, I would not by 20" winters either.
