I spoke to Chrysler Canada to get them to own up on a rear end recall from 6 years ago because in my eyes the rear end wasn’t fixed properly. I took my truck into my mechanic to see that the pinion pin and the locking bolt snapped allowing the pinion pin to hit the yoke and causing damage to the whole carrier so I ask them to replace it at their cost and they told me I need a diagnoses from the dealer but I told them they are going to tell me the same thing I already seen from my mechanic so they weasel their way out of not recalling g the same recall
Hhhhmmmm, recall was for the pinion nut, was it not? That is a totally separate issue. In your case, the locking bolt for the center pin appears to have been sheared off, allowing the pin to float.... (and the broken off chunk of the bolt had to go somewhere as well, and likely did even more damage......) Unless when the recall was done, they rebuilt the rear-end, (as opposed to just replacing the pinion nut, or whatever) then this won't have anything to do with the recall.
