2010 1500ram 5.7hemi

I am having a strange problem. I was driving the other day, and my 4x4 neutral light came on by itself, the next day I had no 2wd. After playing with the 4x4 which I didn't have working the light went out, and then I had 2wd and 4wd. I did some testing shifting in and out of 4wd, and sometimes I have 2wd and 4wd, other times I have one but not the other. The light still comes on and off. Also I was driving in 2wd, and lost it the rpms just revved. I switch to 4x4auto, and drove my truck home (about 1 -2 kms)
Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

I would start by looking at the transfer case linkage (if anything) and the actuator which I believe will be similar to a electric motor which would move the transfer case into the different drive modes.
