Brand new to the forum but thought it would be a good place to ask before going to the mechanic. I bought a 2015 ram 1500. When I put it in 4wd lock it goes right in and the light comes on. Go to put it back to 2wd and the light goes away but I'm still in 4wd. The tires buck when trying to make a turn. I put it in reverse and drive backwards and all is good, I'm in 2wd. Any thoughts?

It should be covered under warranty but I bought it a month ago and when I brought it in to the dealership they let me know it was a Canadian vehicle so the warranty isn't good in the US.

 

This is the second time I have heard that story..... (about the warranty) Check the emissions label under the hood, and see whether it is Canadian, or US emissions. A fair few of them were built in Canada, but, destined for the US. (so, speedo calibrated in MPH, not KPH, etc.) I think you just have a dealer that doesn't like doing warranty work.

 

I just bought a 2014 and had the same issue. I have a 2 acre field, so I drove around it switching 4x4 and 4x2 after a few switches it fixed my issue. I had the same thing when I bought my f150. They sit for awhile and sometimes its a long time before someone uses 4x4 so sometimes it will stick.

It has a US emissions sticker and the speedometer is MPH. But the glove box has a Canadian warranty booklet. Is there another way to check if it was originally purchased in CN?

 

The emissions sticker is the clue. It may have been built IN canada, (check the first digit of the VIN) but it was built FOR US market.

Go here, get a build sheet. Should specify in there.
