P0456 Code
I have a 2015 Ram Tradesman Truck. I am getting a P0456 code. I understand that this is a common problem with Ram trucks. Is there a common cause to this, or are there several things that could have caused it? I understand that bad hoses or modules might throw the code, just wondering with Ram if there is a consistent cause.
I believe your truck will have a ESIM. Evaporative System Integrity Module. I believe they are known to cause issues and will set your code if faulty. A net search will bring you lots of results. Let us know how you make out and your fix!
Thanks for the reply. I was looking into that. Rockauto shows that I should have one. I haven't had a chance yet to climb under the truck. I plan on that this weekend. I want to inspect as many hoses as I can, before I order one.
Sounds like they may have replaced the whole purge canister. The ESIM should be a lot cheaper.

We certainly understand why this may be concerning. We kindly recommend having your dealer inspect this concern for you as they are in the best position to assist. If you do work with your dealer, we would be more than happy to provide you with additional support.

Yes. There are a number of components that can fail. Gas cap charcoal cannister purge valve lines etc. Personally I would inspect all lines for cracks and chafing or anything to cause a leak. If nothing obvious I would start with ESIM. This is assuming you dont have access to proper test equipment. Make sure to install the ESIM correctly.
