2009 Speed Control
Apologies if this has been stated, but I couldn’t find an exact answer anywhere.
Have a 2009 Ram 1500 crew cab with a 4.7. I’ve read quite a few threads on cruise, but here’s a straight forward question: if the cruise light never comes on (not at startup or when attempting to set), what are the most common issues? I purchased this truck a couple of months ago and have never had working cruise during this time. Before taking it to a dealer Monday I’d like to make one last ditch attempt to figure it out first.

Press and hold the trip/reset button, turn the ignition "on", (don't start it.) that *should* initiate a cluster test, all the bulbs should lite up, all the gauges should do a full sweep. See if the cruise light ever comes on....
From my research, I’d think that a vacuum or break pedal issue would still allow the light to be on, but not allow the cruise to engage. So we’re more electrical/power based. It appears there’s no dedicated fuse, and I wouldn’t know where to begin to look to insure cruise is even connected under the hood.
thoughts/suggestions?
If the light doesn't come on during the cluster test, either the bulb is burnt out, or something else is going on..... Not sure just what cruise-related data is available from the PCM..... would likely need a fairly high-zoot scanner to read it anyway.
Cruise would still function if only the bulb was burnt out though wouldn’t it?
I would think so......... But hey, it's FCA, ya just never know.
That's why plugging in with a good scanner may be helpful. You *should* be able to see what the PCM thinks is going on, when you press various buttons. Service manual would come in REAL handy here......

Quick follow up for anyone searching this issue. I took it to the dealer this morning, it was the switch, which is a common issue with this generation of Ram, apparently. The cluster test, oddly enough, wasn't useful as the cruise light/indicator is on the digital system panel and not on the dash panel. Appreciate the responses "HeyYou"!
