I have a 2012 1500 with the 5.7. It has developed a tick on the drivers side. I am having a hard time determining if it is an exhaust leak at the manifold or a lifter tick.
I already replaced the manifold, manifold bolts and gasket.
The tick can always be heard but seems to be quieter when the truck is in gear.

I attached a video of the noise. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Exhaust manifold leaks are quite often more noticeable when cold and diminish during warm up to full operating temp.

 

My 2012 is at the mechanic as we type getting the passenger manifold replaced for the tick. As stated above it went away after the truck warmed up.
$500 repair, including parts.

 

You can use the output of a shop vac and pressurize the exhaust system from the tail pipe. Soap bubbles on the manifold and you can find your leak.
