4" Lifts
Looking for experiences with lifts and opinions on brands and types. (2017 RAM express 4x4 crew cab) Originally I was leaning towards just a leveling kit with 35's but I like the stance better with a 4" lift. My question is the differences in brands and are they worth the money for the high dollar ones such as BDS over the likes of rough country? Is one better than the next as far as ride and/or easier on suspension wear? We will be purchasing new rims with an offset that will give us tires roughly an inch outside the fenders. ( Roughly -18 ) Also what options are there for achieving a 4" lift, being leveled, and a stiffer rear with the coils? This seems to be the hardest thing for me to decide on as I haven't had any experience with lifts.
I think a lot of the price difference is simply paying for a name. Assuming your truck is a 1500, that means IFS, which really complicates lifting it. Axle drop brackets and all that. (also makes them more expensive.....) Prices also vary by the lift method. Blocks in back are cheaper than add-a-leafs, or replacement springs. (or is your coil spring in the rear??) I think any lift isn't going to ride as nice as a stock truck.... but, some of them do tricks with springs (progressive rate....) which makes them pretty nice, but may also make hauling a load/pulling a trailer more interesting. (which is going to happen in any event, as you are changing the center of gravity of a large, heavy truck.....
)
Basically, look at the various kits, compare lift methods, and what you get for your money. (does it come with shocks?) Pick the one you like the best, and ignore the price...... Cheaper is not always better..... of course, the most expensive isn't always better either.
