Default Help: 2016 5.7 Hemi oil leak....or so I think

Hey guys....new to the forum and need some help diagnosing what I believe to be an oil leak.

Noticed some oil spots in the driveway recently where the truck typically sits.

It's a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport with the 5.7 Hemi....approx 89,000 miles.

A true daily driver....simply for myself and my tools as I am a busy Contractor. I don't tow anything and rarely have much of a load, but bought the truck 2 years ago when it had 39,000 miles and the truck was/is in great condition.

I never abuse the truck....in fact have the oil changed regularly. About every 3-5,000 miles and use a high grade fully synthetic.

So back to the leak....never noticed it before, but have seen "drips" I assumed to be moisture when backing up in its parking spot every evening. Now there is clearly a rather large accumulation about the size of a softball, but definately an accumulation.

Well....made the appointment with a trusted Dodge dealership. They didn't find a leak, changed the oil and supposedly cleaned up after what they assumed to be a sloppy mechanic from the last oil change. Which had to be a month ago. Wasn't done there....the Chevy dealership I bought the truck from. But wanted the oil changed anyways so if for any reason something wasn't tight from the last one....we'd be starting over and monitor from here.

They said they cleaned up quite a bit....but tonight, the trail was evident again. "Drips". A day after they cleaned it.

Now they also said there was a slight or potential valve cover leak but definately said it would not of been enough to even leave a drip....just something to be aware of.

So if you are confused as I am or have had any experience similar to this....please respond. Thanks!

Toss some dye in with your oil, drive it for a day, then hit it with a UV light. Should be pretty obvious where the oil is originating from.

Any parts store should sell it. Leak detection kit, or some such.

What color is the drip? I have the same truck as you. Do you have a rough idea on the area where the drip is landing? under engine, under transmission? Is the bottom of floor of the truck oily any where? It could be water as these exhaust system collect water (some oil/carbon)

Haven't seen anything resembling a leak of late....at least since I posted this thread. So it appears as if the dealership diagnosed it properly....a sloppy oil change. But will keep tabs and update if I find it leaks again....
