Default Center Console Shift Linkage Removal

Hi folks - I'm in the process of removing my center console to facilitate removing the dash so I can replace the AC Evaporator Core. I have everything disconnected except for the transmission shift linkage cable on the floor shifter. Does it just pull off or is there some type of retaining clip? I've pulled on it but am afraid to pull to hard for fear of breaking the plastic. Any help you can provide would be great.

I can't find a good pic, but, it looks like it just clips itself in place. If you see a metal strap around the part that goes to the linkage itself, use a tiny screwdriver to pry that up and out. (careful, it flies REALLY well, and loves to find some obscure place to fall into, never to be seen again....) That *should* release it.
