Default 2011 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi

So lost. About 2 yrs. ago I had the camshaft replaced. Ram fine. About a yr. later it started to have a misfire on cylinder 1. I would replace the coil and plugs and it would be fine. It would go anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 days and the same thing would accurr. I would replace the coil again and all wouls be good. It got to the point that I would carry an extra coil and plugs with me and change on the side of the road if needed. One time after I had just changed the coil and plugs once again it had only been a few days and upon exiting the highway it started to misfire yet again. As I sit in a parking lot waiting for another coil and plugs, after about 15 min. or so I decided to fire it up just to see what would happen. The damn thing ran fine. But only enough to get home. Took it to the shop where they said it was 02 downstream sensors. They replaces both. Got it back only to have the nightmare continue. Took it to a different shop only for them to tell me it waa now a cylinder 7 misfire. So of course they replaced coil and plugs on cylinder 7. Got it back for 2 days for it to only start a misfire AGAIN!!! Any ideas would be great as it seems nobody around here can figure it out.

Misfires should set a code. If you are getting consistent misfires on any particular cylinder, that comes back after swapping parts, something else is likely going on. My first question would be: What plugs are you installing? And what plugs does dodge recommend? I know on the older motors, Dodge wanted copper plugs, and if you installed rare-earth plugs, you were likely to get mystery misfires......

It is the copper champion and that is what is required. Just drives me nuts. The codes only read misfire or o2 sensors.

Check the connectors at the coils. If they get a crappy connection, that can cause high resistance in the circuit, and the coils get HOT..... which kills them. Also check the connectors at the PCM......

Will do. So. How specific do these trucks need to be about OEM vs aftermarket? As far as O2 sensors.

NTK or Denso ONLY. Other brands just don't seem to work as well.
