Random battery discharge
I'm having a random issue with my 2012 1500 discharging the battery. The problem only started a few months ago after I drove from Albuquerque to Virginia Beach. After the first couple times I thought it was the battery and replaced it. The problem has persisted so I took the aftermarket stereo out and went back to the factory unit thinking it may have been the problem. Everything else on it is factory stock. I replaced the alternator because it has 145k miles on it so it was probably due anyway, but the battery still goes dead. It will go completely dead in less than 24 hours. Anyone experienced this before or heard of a remedy?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure this would help you, but my 2010 1500 would randomly run the battery down and I stumbled upon a fix that has kept the problem away, best of all, it's free! It seems on my truck, something was keeping the computer or a module awake after turning the engine off, but not all the time. Since it is kept in a garage, I never lock it while at home, and noticed the problem didn't happen if I locked it to set the security system and then unlock it in the garage. So I just make sure I occasionally lock and unlock it and it hasn't run the battery down since doing that. Hope this helps.
yes i cant close my hood all the way but that not it it seems like when it is pidling its fine its when i put more loads on the battery it starts eating it up and doesnt i guess engage the altenator voltage regulator until it hits 2000 rpms and while driving it just eats up and next thing the battery light comes on
