hello my truck has recently started doing this and im not sure where to start I spoke with my dealer they said no recalls for my truck and every once in a while my truck would throw a cf code on my trailer brake controller it is OEM and my display says heavy electric trailer brake disconnected and it says service 4wd but I am not connected to a trailer and when I do connect it everything seems fine I do not know if my trailer breaks actually engage cause I dont want to take it on the road without working breaks and I can engage those code my flooring it no crazy speeds but when I turn the truck off like the computer resets and my cruise control does not work and when i scan the car it has some abs codes also sometimes when i turn my key to let the element heat up for 30 sec i turn the key and the whole dash shuts off when i release the key the dash lights up so i would have to cycle key like 3 times take it out then retry and it will turn on i read while ago that my can bus is not working any help would be appreciated it wont let me upload a video of my truck display turning off when turning key

 

Need to know what codes you are getting. If you have a wheel speed sensor flaking out, that could explain it.

 

I do not get any code when I scan the truck my scanner needs the truck turned off then back on to read it but when i turn it off the codes and serv4x4 and trailer go away and if I still scan it says it all good but I guess the current problem major problem is starting the truck up when I turn the key I left the grid heater warm-up first usually its around 40 degrees Fahrenheit then i wait 30 sec i try to crank it but all my dash and gauges go down as if i turned the truck off but when i release the key all the gauge turn on as if i started the car that happens a couple of times then i need to have the key still in the crank even if nothing is happening then i release the turning on quickly the truck finally turns on but that a hit and miss sometimes i need to have the key out and wait 30 and retry it all the shop charges 100 just too look at it but i would like to narrow it down my self and take it to them if i truly have too

 

Does it lose power when you first try and crank it?? All the gauges zero out, and lites go off??

 

I think CF means Controller Failure. I would disconnect the controller and see what happens.

sorry for the late response work 12 hrs but yes the whole dash goes out gauge go down like fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge and the backlights turn off

 

so today I tried to use 4x4 low and high they both seem to work but now I tried to engage that issue where my gauge go out and I had my scanner plugged in and ready to go i left the key for 20 sec and turned the key to crank and the dash went out so I held it in crank position and scanned the truck and still held the key in total for 1 minute and then the dash came on and the truck turned on like normal and I got the code to appear on my scanner but my dash did not light up with any code or issue I'm going to research the code put wanted to post the picture if you guys know anything how to fix

some of the issue were showing the same code

 

All of those issues relate to a problem with the communications bus. My vision sucks, so I cant really read the screenshots of your scanner.

 

yeah i was doing some research and i was told to do a tipm/can bus reset so I will try it today for 24 hrs and see what happens but on the code description i kept seeing lost communications with ecm/pcm from the abs, itbm, and tpms so i assume my computer is jacked and is not receiving proper signals from those things and throwing everything off
