Default 2014 ram 3500 crew cab sending unit failure

Hi everyone my name is Bryan, I'm just a shade tree mechanic but Dodge seems to be the preferred vehicle lately, I'm just about to drop the tank on a Dodge 3500 2014 ram and replace the entire sending unit because it's all one piece does anyone have any tips on things I could check first to make sure that I don't need to do this thanks in advance

What seems to be the issue?

Might have a look at lifting the bed, rather than dropping the tank. Those units love to fail when you have a full tank of fuel.

It's just the gauge that isn't working the pump is working fine I think we are just tired of keeping up with mileage and it seems that we have to replace the entire module I was just hoping someone might be able to point out something I missed or should check before doing so, I don't mind dropping the tank I just don't like doing unnecessary work
