Trailer lights not working
I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and when I tried attaching a trailer to it the lights don’t work I’ve checked both connections on the truck with a tester it’s comes back saying it’s working. Then I hooked the trailer up to my old man’s 2014 Silverado and it worked fine all lights turned on and functioned properly

What kind of tester did you use? 4 or 7 pin connector?
On my 7 pin, everything would read properly with a multimeter, but, the trailer would have none of it. Cleaned the contacts on both sides, and it started working properly.

both and on both it said it was working. What did you use to clean it?

If the tester you used has LED indicators to determine if it's working, the LEDs will not load the circuit. So if any of the connections for the trailer wiring connections are corroded, they may light the LEDs but will NOT light typical trailer lighting since the corroded connections cannot pass sufficient current for the trailer lights. So I'm guessing HeyYou cleaned corrosion off the connections to get them working.
If your truck's trailer wiring was installed by an aftermarket installer and they didn't use a t-harness, there's a good chance they used Scotch-Loc connectors which are NOT intended for exterior use and have no sort of environmental seal. I've seen them used way too often and had to replace far too many feet of wiring because of the corrosion caused from their use.

Electrical contact cleaner in a spray can, and a wire brush. After those, I just plugged/unplugged a few dozen times. Worked great after that.
