Hello, everyone I’m new here so I apologize if I post this in the incorrect place. The driver side running board of my 2018 Ram 2500 was knocked out of place by a rock and ripped the rivnuts out of the truck frame. Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be the best way to fix this? In one of the pics I circled, in red, is where I was thinking of drilling and installing a new rivnut. However, I thought I’d do research first. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Do you have access to the back side of the frame there? If you do, just some nuts bolts and washers would be my answer. If not, maybe drill all the way thru the frame, and put the nuts/washers on the inside..... If access is difficult there, tack weld the nuts/washers to the frame.
I bought metal well nuts & the tool to install them to fix mine. You have to use a tool which has a 90 degree head, as there isn't enough room between the rocker and the frame rail for the straight kind.
