Default Towing Help

Hi, I have some questions related to my 2015 ram 1500 lonestar with 5.7 hemi, and zf8 speed transmission. I want to apologize in advance if I'm asking something that may have already been asked. I can't seem to find anything pertaining specifically to my truck edition. Basically from my research it seems my truck can tow 8000lbs and has about a 1600lb payload. What I want to know is how does the lonestar handle towing? I want to use it tow a 7000lb gvwr dump trailer , but I don't want to risk ruining the truck. While I do understand the trailer is under the 8000lb towing capacity, if I were to tow a trailer of that size 3-4 days a week for like 70-100 miles a day, is it going to be putting a lot of strain on the truck and possibly hurts it's life expectancy. As well any suggestions as far as mods or things I should get for the truck for towing is appreciated.

All depends on how much weight you will be loading in the trailer. My first truck was a 1500 and I found out that from then on I wanted a 2500 minimum when it came down to towing things for any length of time.

If you tow that on a regular basis, it IS going to have a detrimental effect on your truck.... You can't work it that hard, and not expect things to wear out quicker.

Empty trailer is 7000#'s? You need a bigger truck

Default Clarification

The max loaded weight of trailer would be 7000lbs.

Thank you for the responses! Appreciate the input.

Also, does your truck have a trailer brake controller? If not, you DEFINITELY don't want to try towing that trailer, even unloaded.
