Default Can't replace fuel filter on 2017 1500 5.7 liter? Seriously?

So I got a tank of bad gas. It was throwing P0300 and P0308 codes. I drained the tank, refilled it, added octane boost, dry gas, and injector cleaner. After several more tanks of gas, I stilI have a loss of power and it runs rough. So then I changed spark plugs. Cylinder 8 had raw gas on them. I also moved the coil positions and that didn't help. Replacing the plugs helped a little. I wanted to replace the fuel filter next but found out I have to replace the entire sending unit. Seriously? There are no replacement filters? The sending unit itself is fine. And the manual says to replace the fuel filter every 40000 miles. Makes no sense. I'm figuring I may have to replacecthe injectors, too. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

Swap injectors on six and eight. See if the problem moves with the injector.

The filter is supposed to be replaced at 40K intervals? That's gotta be wrong..... On the 2nd gens, the filter is also part of the pump module, and it isn't a maintenance item at all. Filter only gets replaced when the pump fails.
