Default Cracked transfer case after readylift 2.5 inch lift

Hello,

I lifted my truck last summer and installed a ready lift 2.5 level lift and 35’s. I used bilstein adjustable front shocks on the front and 5100 on the back. At the end of the winter I realized I had cracked my transfer case. My mechanic recommended adjusting the location of the transfer case to account for the change in geometry created by lifting the truck. Problem is my mechanic doesn’t regularly work on lifted trucks. He’s more of the average mechanic that does everything but have used him for 20 years.

My question to you experts, what do I need to do to avoid cracking another transfer case? The lift kit came with new upper control arms. It is a 2010 ram 1500. Thanks for all the help.

The lift had nothing to do with the transfer case cracking. It didn't change the geometry there at all. Front diff is still in the same place, and driveshaft angles did not change. (in front....) More likely the 35 inch tires, and probably 3.55 gears is what killed your t-case.

Hadn’t thought about that. Any solutions? I’d assume changing the gears or getting smaller tires. Any other work around a?

Those are indeed your options. Gears just ain't cheap.... but, then, neither are tires. Tires are still cheaper than gears though......
