Default 4WD SERV light is on (orange)

Hello,
My 4WD SERV light is on (orange). I can't figure out why. I have checked with my OBD2 Reader for codes but nothing is there. I saw somewhere that if the light is not red or flashing it is okay to drive, not sure if that is true. If I have to take it to the shop I don't want to drive it there if it will do damage.
When I noticed it: I put it in 4WD in my yard for a minute and then back to 2WD and it has stayed lit since then, I have not driven it since the light came on.
Any ideas or what I can check?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The brake light is on because the parking brake is engaged.

That works.

Need to read codes, see what it is whining about.

Yeah, I can't read with the obd2 reader since there aren't any engine codes and I don't have the reader to check the codes for that part so I was seeing if anyone here had any ideas. Looks like I will be taking it to the shop.

Check with your local parts stores, they may be able to read those codes.

I don't have any codes, that's the problem. I'm in the dark on this one.

Because your reader can't access those systems. You likely can't read ABS, or SRS codes either..... the parts store readers *might*.....
