2014 Ram fob stuck in ignition & battery drain
The key fob was stuck in the ignition last year 3 times, it was towed to the dealer 3 times. The dealer successfully got the truck to work normally, everything was good for a few months. Between a broken ankle, hip replacement surgery, and more, was unable to drive the truck for several months. Now the fob was stuck again, dealer repaired corroded wires to the computer. We have a lifetime warranty, thank goodness, which covers the cost minus a small deductible. Truck worked fine.
Two months later the key was stuck again, towed to the dealer, it was ready, they cranked it up and it stuck with them this time! The display has "transmission needs servicing" each time it does this. They have cranked it every day for 2 months, started fine. Service manager called today (7/25/23), it has some kind of battery drain, technician is trying to find it. The service manager has been nothing but straight with us, so we trust him. He's as exasperated as much as we are.
Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks, just wish somebody had ideas for us. They've had our truck since mid-May and it's August now. We have a camper top on it. If we trade it in, can we use the camper top on another truck?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Any bed with the same dimensions. Do you have the 6 1/2 or 8 foot bed? I'm surprised the dealer can't find the problem.
Hi! We have a 6 1/2 foot bed. We got the truck back this week. The dealer has worked on it most of the time he had it. The problem, believe it or not, is because it hasn't been driven enough to keep it running properly. It only has 17,000 miles on it. We were in a head-on with a tractor trailer summer 2014 in a 2008 Ram. My husband wanted to replace it (which saved our lives) with a new truck, I think as incentive for him to recover. Couldn't get in it for 4 months after we bought it. Drove it the next 6 years on vacation, etc., it was fine. My wife broke her ankle (bad break), couldn't get in the truck for 9 months (2022). I had severe hip pain (late 2022-2023) from the wreck, couldn't get in it for several months. Had a successful hip replacement in May, 2023, doing great. The Dodge dealer went through the truck looking for chewed wires, etc., drove it..stopped..restarted multiple times..didn't find anything. There are so many things that the battery controls, if it's not run periodically then the truck will fail. We are driving it now, it's doing fine, though right now we don't cut it off until we get back home. A little "gun shy" right now...soon though we'll go like we did before all this happened. Thanks!
Finally figured out the cause of all of this. We put a light bar on the back above the bumper because we have problems with insane drivers who don't pay attention to turn signals. I asked the dealer to remove the light bar early August because it wasn't working right, they didn't, just unplugged the camper top brake light. Took it back 2 weeks later with a printed picture of the display with the key fob stuck. I disconnected the battery and the fob came out. charged the battery, it started. Also wrote on the sheet and highlighted "take the light bar off"....success! They did, so far so good, starts every time!

I usually add a toggle switch to two work lights under the bumper. Then again, most of what I drive, people won't tailgate. It might be catching.
